I look at it somewhat differently than you. It's almost like swallowing a piece of food so quickly I can't taste it, then being told what I just ate. To me, hidden achievements don't make much sense. If I don't know what I'm going for, I can only enjoy it after I unlock it. When I know what the achievement is, I enjoy the process of getting it as much as actually unlocking it.
